○ All applicants must read this announcement thoughtfully before the application. Please note that you are responsible for any inconvenience caused by failing to understand the notice.

○ Siheung Campus Housing has unique features distinguished from other campus dormitories.

-  Since there are no resident assistants who manage and support students’ lives, residents should be able to manage and take responsibility for their own lives on their own.

-  You can live for up to two years if you maintain your qualifications after moving in, and we do not operate a temporary leave system during the vacation.

-  Students can move into Studios or family rooms.

-  Other members of the school, including teachers, employees, and researchers, reside in the two buildings with students.

2. Qualifications for Application (Current or Previous residents of other campus dormitories can also apply)

A. Studio : Graduate Students and Research Students studying at SNU for the 2024 Fall Semester

B. Family Room : Graduate Students and Research Students, who are married or single- parent families with child, studying at SNU for the 2024 Fall Semester

C. Details

1) Graduate Students : First- year/Current/Returning Graduate Students

2) Master’s and Doctoral Combined Program Student

-  For Master’s and Doctoral Combined Program students who already completed more than 3 Semesters and earned over 24 credits (applied to qualified Ph.D students). An applicant must clarify his or her study track (Master, Ph.D, or other) in 2024 Fall Semester appropriately.

3) Full- time Graduate Research Students : Students who have completed a regular graduate course and registered as a research student in 2024 Fall Semester.

-  Those accepted must submit “Verification of Full- time Research Student(Appendix 4)” with other documents.

-  Those who have not registered as research students(payment of research student tuition fee) will be expelled.

3. Application & Selection

A. Application & Document Submission (On- line) : MySNU -  Student Residence Halls -  Siheung Campus Housing -  Apply to move in

1) Applicants advancing to a new program in 2024 Fall Semester(e.g. Masters to Doctorate) must apply using MySNU account for the new student status in the 2024 Fall Semester.

2) If your families’ address is not inside South Korea, instead of clicking the magnifying glass for automated address search, write the zip code as 'zzzzz' and enter the address manually.

3) When you apply, you must upload documents. [Appendix 1]

If there is any misgiven information from applicants, he or she shall be excluded from the selection process.

B. Selection Criteria : Select among the priority pool first and then select among general applicants second to fill available rooms.

1) Applicant of Priority

① Students who study or research at Siheung Campus

E.g.) In case of a student researcher participating in a research project at Siheung Campus, or Students who takes a course at Siheung Campus.

② Students who participate in 4th BK21 Project

-  With required documents, the application will be considered priority. If the applicant is not selected as priority, he or she will be considered as a general applicant for the next round of screening.

2) General Selection 

-  Studio : Randomly select from groups listed below, then from the next groups if available rooms left.

① PhD research student coming from countryside, ② Master’s research student coming from countryside, ③ PhD student coming from countryside, ④ Master’s student coming from countryside, ⑤ PhD research student from suburb of Seoul & Seoul(Nowon- gu, Dobong- gu only), ⑥ Master’s research student from suburb of Seoul & Seoul(Nowon- gu, Dobong- gu only), ⑦ PhD student from suburb of Seoul & Seoul(Nowon- gu, Dobong- gu only),

※ Suburb of Seoul : Bucheon, Gwangmyeong, Anyang, Gwacheon, Sungnam, Gunpo, Uiwang※ Countryside : All domestic or overseas except Seoul, suburbs of Seoul, and Siheung

-  Family Room : After points are assigned according to the score table below, the selection will be decided from the highest, and random selection will be made to the tied applicants.

※ If the spouse is a graduate/research student at SNU, additional points are awarded, and 5 points are awarded for each child.

4. Announcement of Result of Application

C. Waiting Number

1) Studio : Assigned in the order of the selection group and randomly assigned within the group

2) Family Room : Ranking is given in the order of selection criteria and randomly assigned among tied Applicants

D. Expiration date of waiting number : December 31st, 2024

5. Submission of Contract documents

A. Confirmation of move- in : If you are selected as a resident, please submit a residential contract to confirm move- in(Appendix 6).

B. Date of submission : Until Further notice

If the residential contract documents are not submitted within the deadline, the move- in selection will be canceled.

※ When the result is announced, details such as submission of documents will be announced.

※ The deposit should be paid until the move- in date.

6. Note

A. Move- in

1) Move- in date : August 14, 2024 ~

2) Period of residence : 2 year(If your end date of the contract is within the Semester period, the end date of that Semester (end of January, end of July) will be regarded as the end of your stay contract)

E.g.) If you move in August, 2024, the expiration date of the residence is the end of January 31, 2027.

-  The date of move- in shall be selected individually during the period of payment of deposit and submission residential contract.

-  You must leave within one month of the expiration of the period of residence.

-  You must leave when you lose qualifications for application(such as graduation), even though you have extra time for residence.

-  If a resident violates any rule of Siheung Campus Housing, he or she should leave the housing before the end of that month.For those who want to leave the housing permanently, the resident must request to leave before two months of the move out date.

-  The total length of residence for the same student number is two years, and regardless of the length of residence and reason for move- out are not allowed to apply for re- entry.

3) Restriction of multiple housing : If you are selected as two or more tenants including dormitories on other campuses, you must choose one to move in.

B. Cancellation of Residency

1) If document submission and fee payment are not completed within the given period, the student will be regarded to have given up the residency, and his or her residency will be automatically cancelled.

2) If situations below occur while living in the dormitory after moving in, the resident must voluntarily move out, or will be immediately expelled if found. ① Student status changes(Leave of absence for two or more consecutive Semesters, course completion, graduation) ② When the Steering Committee decides to expel him/her due to significant public interest needs.

3) Those who have not registered as research students(payment of research student tuition fee) will be expelled.

4) Illegal room transfer or substituted move- in will lead to immediate expelling of residents. Penalty information will be reported to student’s Department and Office of Student Affairs, and may be documented on the transcript.

Ⅱ. FAQ

Q1. Can I choose which floor and room to stay?

A1. No, You can’t. it will be randomly assigned.

Q2. Is there any woman or man only building?

A2. In Siheung Campus Housing, there are only two buildings so no gender regulation is on such floor or building. In addition, you may have university staff and professors at the same building.

Q3. If living in Gwanak Campus Residence or accepted to newly moved in dormitory at Gwanak Campus, can I still apply for Siheung Campus Dormitory?

A3. All on and off campus residents of Gwanak Campus can apply for Siheung Campus Housing. However, if you receive two options, you must choose only one place to stay either at Gwanak or at Siheung.

Q4. Will I get disadvantage for a record of living Gwanak Campus or other campus previously?

A4. No, we do not put a disadvantage on such personal history.

Q5. Is there a school shuttle bus from Gwanak to Siheung Campus (vice versa)?

A5. Yes, there are school shuttle buses (Monday to Friday) for SNU students, faculty members, and staffs. You can refer to our homepage for bus interval and location of bus stop. You may also use public transportation.

Q6. While I stay in Siheung Campus Dormitory, can I ask for temporary leave during summer/winter break?

A6. No, we do not allow for temporary leave. You also have to pay for utility fees and monthly rent despite your temporary leave in Siheung.

Q7. What kind of furniture or facilities in the dormitory?

A7. Please refer to [Appendix5] Siheung Campus Housing Facilities.

Q8. Is there are any difference between Gwanak and Siheung Dormitory?

A8. Siheung Campus Housing do not have resident assistants. Office of Siheung Campus decides overall operations. Dormitory Life Rules are different from those of Gwanak’s. There is a shared kitchen(1st floor Building 103) and a coin laundry. There is NO a shared washing room and public water taps. You must purchase garbage bags for your waste disposal. There are many differences in addition to those, so please beware.

<Guidelines for Required Documents>

Ⅰ. Documents for Applicant of priority(If applicable)

① A student who studies or researches at Siheung Campus : [Appendix 3] with documents to proof of studying or researching at Siheung campus.

② A student who participates in BK21 Project : Certificate of Research Participation.

※ The result of Applicant of priority will be announced separately.

※ The applicant must submit required documents for applying Studio or Family Room.

※ If your spouse is attending SNU, you also need to submit a spouse's Enrollment certificate record.

※ To prove you still study in 2024 Fall Semester, you must submit enrollment certificate record again after move- in.

<Siheung Campus Dormitory Monthly Rent and Utility Fee(Graduate Students)>

-  Every month, residents need to make the payment upfront. On the move- in month, fees start counting from the day you move in.

-  When you transfer money(rent), you have to check your building+room number.

E.g) 101- 101(O), name or other identities(X).

-  Utility Fee includes general electricity, gas, water, internet, etc. This also includes the maintenance fee of public spaces. Residents may receive different amounts of monthly utility fees depending on the use. You can check the money through postage box.

-  Deposit and Monthly Rent Fee may be changed later according to the criteria.


2. Payment Detail

-  Deposit is collected once when first move in and will be refunded within 10 days of your leaving. However, if a resident has unpaid monthly rent or utility fee, he or she might get less amount of deposit and utility fee deposit – this also contains cleaning use of room facilities.

-  When you move- out, if you don’t fix the destroyed things, fixing money will also be deducted your deposit.

-  Utility fee(electricity, water, etc) must be paid within the assigned period. There may be extra fee added for consistent late payment and Siheung Campus Administration can ask the resident for leave. You can check the money in your postage box.

1. 퇴거사유가 발생하였을 때는 퇴거 1개월 전에 퇴거신고서를 제출하고, 그 발생일로부터 1개월 이내에 퇴거하겠음.

2. 퇴거통보에 의해 퇴거할 경우에는, 퇴거통보를 받은 즉시 퇴거신고서를 제출하고, 퇴거통보일로부터 1개월 이내에 퇴거하겠음.

3. 주택 운영 규정 제17조제1항의 퇴거사유 외에 입주기간 중 부득이한 사유로 퇴거를 희망할 경우 퇴거 예정일로부터 최소 2개월 이전에 퇴거의사를 밝힘과 동시에 퇴거신고서를 시흥캠퍼스본부에 제출하겠음. 

4.제1호, 제2호에서 규정한 퇴거기한까지 퇴거하지 않는 경우에는 주택 운영 규정 및 시행세칙에서 정하는 바에 따라 기간초과부가금을 매월 납부하겠음.

5.입주자는 입주일부터 퇴거일까지 시흥캠퍼스주택에 거주하고, 입주신고서에 기재된 가족 이외의 자와 동거를 하지 않으며 동거인의 변동이 있을 시에는 시흥캠퍼스본부에 서면 통보하겠음.

6.선량한 사용자로서의 주의 의무를 다하여 주택을 보호 유지하며, 특히 화재의 예방, 전기, 수도, 냉난방의 절약과 주택 내에서의 질서를 문란케 하는 행위를 하지 않겠음.

7.양도 또는 이와 유사한 행위, 주택 및 부속시설의 구조변경, 소음 및 위험물 사용 등의 행위를 하지 않겠으며, 기타 공동주택관리법 제18조에 따른 경기도 공동주택관리규약 준칙 제13조가 규정하는 입주자의 의무를 준수하겠음.

8. 개인부담 공동관리비 등을 지정된 기일 내에 납부하겠음.

9.세대별 내부의 소모성 시설의 재료비 및 수리비, 고의 또는 과실로 인한 훼손 및 망실의 경우 수리비, 공동시설의 보수를 위한 경비 등은 본인이 부담하겠음.

10. 보증금 및 월 사용료, 관리비는 거주기간 중 부과 기준 금액이 조정될 경우 이를 수용하고 납부하겠음.
