SNU College of Engineering (Dean Lee Kun-woo) stated on 4th that the SNU-affiliated Center for Research and Development of Police Science and Technology (CPST) (Director Park Chan) and the Convergence Research Institute for Forensic Science (CRIFS) (Chief Kwon Dongil) concluded business agreement to make continuous and progressive mutual base for police science and technology and legal safety engineering
SNU Professor Park Chan, the director of CPST, and SNU Professor Kwon Dongil, the chief of CRIFS, attended the ceremony which was held 3rd morning.
In accordance with the increasing crime trend and the increasing necessity of establishing the national safety system, this business agreement of the two institutions is aimed at △the development of police science and technology such as scientific investigation and crime prevention, △establishment of a cooperation base for building a safe society, △strengthening mutual expertise in safety related fields, and △cooperation in the identification of causes related to large-scale state accidents and research on preventive technologies.
Park said, "This agreement will be a meaningful starting point for building a foundation for people to live in peace. If we actively promote a cooperation system for domestic crime prevention and national safety and protection, it will set a good example to related organizations.”
Kwon said, "As the result of this agreement, we will actively and systematically strive for the prevention of domestic accidents and the establishment of a coping base and environment for rapid and safe response to diversified disaster safety accidents in the rapidly changing domestic environment"
Meanwhile, CPST was established in 2015 to effectively deal with crimes that threaten public safety. We are studying to realize the development of science and technology reflecting the specificity and specialty of the security field. CRIFS is an organization established in 2013, based on the need for a civil engineering approach to integrate legal approaches to safety issues and to foster private-sector research and activities.
