SNU Professor Seokwon Jeon Elected as the 31st President of the Korean Society of
Mineral and Energy Resources Engineers

Seoul National University's College of Engineering (Dean Byoungho Lee) announced that Professor Seokwon Jeon of the Department of Energy Resources Engineering was elected as the 31st president (term from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2023) at the Council of the Korean Society of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineers that was held on October 15.
Founded in 1962, the Korean Society of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineers is the nation's leading professional academic organization in the resource field, leading the academic and industrial development in resource engineering and related fields related to research, exploration, development, production, utilization, economic analysis, policy, etc. of domestic and foreign energy and mineral resources.
Professor Seokwon Jeon has served as the General Secretary and Vice President of the Korean Society of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineers, and has served as the President of the Korean Society of Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering and Vice President of the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering. “I will expand the role of the society in the field of energy and resources and strengthen the competence of the society to proactively respond to future social changes, including the 4th industrial revolution and energy transition,” said Professor Seokwon Jeon.
