SNU Emeritus Professor Hyo-Taek Chon Publishes His Second Essay Lifelong Relationship

SNU College of Engineering (Dean Kook-heon Char) announces on 15^th that Emeritus Professor Hyo-Taek Chon on the Department of Energy Resources Engineering has published his second essay Lifelong Relationship.
 
This essay of Chon is a 221-page collection of 50 short essays that have been published on various literary magazines. The 50 pieces consist of 29 general essays, 10 travel proses, and 11 rock and mineral trip journals. This “rock and mineral trip journals” is a unique topic rarely handled in regular essay collections that is closely related to Chon’s profession.
 
Professor Chon has served as a SNU professor for 32 years during which he has won the Kim-Ok-Joon Award (2006), Seoam Award (2007), SNU Excellence in Research Award (2011), a “Dedication” of a Special Issue of the Environmental Geochemistry and Health (EGH) of the Society for Environmental Geochemistry and Health (SEGH), etc. His major has been on applied geochemistry and economic and environmental geology. Chon has also served as the President of the Korean Society of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineers, President of the Korean Society of Economic and Environmental Geology, and the Asia-Pacific President of the Association of Applied Geochemists.
 
Chon has started his literary career with Modern Essays in 2014 and has also published his first essay collection Regretful Moments and Thankful People in November of 2016. He is currently a member of the Korean Writers’ Association and is participating as a writer of the Travel Culture, a bimonthly literary magazine that has been launched last September.
 
Professor Chon states as he publishes his new essay collection, “The delight of writing is the self-examination and looking back on myself. While I wish to be a cultured and mannered person, I ponder whether I will be able to write honest pieces that root from my heart. Although time cannot be stopped, I dearly wait upon my wish to come true while I also try to slow down time.
