The Architectural Institute of Korea Hosts Its 2018 Regular General Assembly and Academic Conference

The Architectural Institute of Korea (AIK, President and SNU Professor BongHee Jeon) has hosted its general assembly and academic conference at the Hannam University over November 16^th to 17^th.
 
This year being the 27^th annual of AIK, the AIK is Korea’s largest institute on the field of architecture that consists of over 1700 specialists that perform researches on history and culture of Korea’s traditional and modern architectures.
 
The 2018 general assembly has sparked off with President Jeon’s opening speech and President Duck Hoon Lee of Hannam University’s welcoming speech. Beginning with the congratulatory message of Director-General Jong-Deok Choi of the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage (NRICH), the assembly proceeds to reporting and evaluating its items, presentation of the Academic Award, the “송현(song-hyun)” Paper Award, and appreciation plaques, etc.
 
Professor Chi-Sang Seo of Pusan University has had the honor to be the recipient of the 2018 Academic Award for his lifelong academic achievements. The 17^th Song-Hyun Paper Award, an award supported by the donation of AIK’s first president Professor Il-Jin Kim, has been presented to Professor U Jong Lee of Yeungnam University for his paper on “Function and Orthography Research on Anchogong of Late Chosun.”
 
The academic conference spans from the morning of 16^th to the morning of 17^th and consists of special and individual researcher sessions on over 100 research papers including “Architectural History of Goryeo Dynasty,” “Case Study of Preservation Technology of Modern Architecture,” “Changes in Floor Systems During Mid-Chosun,” “Architectural Cultural Heritage of North Korea,” etc.
