Professor Kukjin Chun of SNU Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Elected as IEEE MGA (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Member and Geographic Activities) Vice-President

SNU College of Engineering (Dean Kook Heon Char) announced on 4th that Professor Kukjin Chun of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has been elected as the IEEE MGA (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Member and Geographic Activities) Vice-President.
IEEE is the leading committee on the field of electronics, communications, electrical and computer engineering with more than 400,000 members from over 160 countries.
Professor Chun is in charge of managing IEEE memberships and the committee’s international activities. His term of office begins from 2019 and will be serving for the committee for three full-years. His title is precisely “Vice-President Elect” for 2019, “Vice-President” for 2020, and “Past Vice-President” for 2021.
Professor Chun received his BS degree at SNU Department of Electrical Engineering and his PhD degree at the University of Michigan. He is currently a professor at SNU and has previously served as the dean of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, director of the Inter-university Semiconductor Research Center of SNU, editor-in-chief of the Journal of Semiconductor Technology and Science (JSTS), president of the Institute of Electronics Engineers of Korea, etc. Chun, being the one who developed the 4th generation wireless transceiver, was the first in Korea to construct manufacturing facilities for micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS).
