U+ is expanding its ‘AI-based facility predictive maintenance’ service that diagnoses and predicts the failure or malfunctioning of industrial facilities using artificial intelligence (AI). This is a move to strengthen competitiveness in the smart factory field, one of the future growth engines.
‘Facility predictive maintenance' is the field in smart factories where AI is most actively used. As the construction of smart factories is accelerating to increase the development of technologies such as 5G, IoT (Internet of Things), and big data, the industry's interest in predictive maintenance technology that improves facility operation efficiency through AI is also increasing.
LG U+ joined hands with “One Predict,” a company specializing in industrial AI solutions, to increase its competitiveness in the field of predictive maintenance of facilities. The two companies signed a business agreement (MOU) at their office in Yongsan, Seoul on the 17th, and promised to expand the scope of facility predictive maintenance services.
The solution of 'OnePredict' diagnoses the condition by analyzing data such as that regarding vibration and noise generated in industrial facilities with AI technology, and predicts the time of occurrence of the failure and its remaining life. This solution can be used for predictive maintenance of various equipment such as bearings, reducers, pumps, fans, blowers, compressors and turbines.
Through their collaboration with OnePredict, LG U+ plans to expand the scope of providing facility predictive maintenance service to various driving machines, which was previously restrictively provided to only certain facilities, such as existing motors. It plans to apply 5G network and integrated control platform to various industries by combining AI predictive maintenance solution.
Previously, the two companies were recognized for their technological prowess by successfully carrying out the “Leading Application of Mobile Edge Computing (MEC)-based 5G Convergence Service in Public Sector” assignment that was hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency (NIA). Currently, they are providing a service that predicts facility failures based on vibration data generated from pumps and motor bearings of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Ulsan Industrial Complex.
“Facility predictive maintenance is one of the core services of a smart factory. By analyzing the big data of facilities with AI and providing accurate diagnosis and prediction results, we can reduce maintenance costs and ensure facility stability," said LG U+ Vice President Jaeyong Suh, in charge of smart infrastructure.
