Technical Module: Humanitarian Engineering
56 hrs. lectures
This module includes two preparatory online sessions in May/June.
In collaboration with the NGO Humanity and Inclusion and Bioforce, a humanitarian training provider based in Lyon.
- Overview of the humanitarian sector and issues at stake;
- Project cycle in humanitarian contexts;
- Application of engineering competencies to the aid’s sector;
- Work in groups on a case study.
Cultural Module: French Language and Cross-Cultural Communication
30 hrs. lectures
- Introduction to French as a foreign language: learn and practice basic French in real-life situations in Lyon; - Develop intercultural competencies and learn to decode cultural differences through language, behaviors, and social interactions.
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) foundation : machine learning, data mining, natural language processing;
- AI’s integration with the Internet of Things;
- Ethics of AI and its real-world impact;
- Visit to the INSA Lyon Experimental Platform on Aerial Robots.

Note:The cultural module is common to both the Human'INSA and InsAI programmes. Students from both cohorts are mixed together and are divided into groups according to their level of French.
