On 4th, SNU College of Engineering (Dean Cha Kook-Heon) has announced to host the “Camp for Young Engineer Frontiers” from July 24th to 27th for high school students aiming to take on the engineering road.
The SNU “Camp for Young Engineering Frontiers” is the most wanted camp among top students that wish to enter STEM related majors in their undergraduate years. This is largely due to the camp’s solid schedule with programs that teach students how to self-prepare for science/engineering majors and allow students to acquire direct experience of the life of an engineering student.
Shin Won-Jun who has entered SNU College of Engineering after participating in last year’s camp comments, “The camp has clarified me on the types of studying involved in the major I wanted to enter. I definitely recommend this camp for students who need strong motivations.”
The specific programs of the SNU “Camp for Young Engineering Frontiers” include ▲Fun Engineering Experiments ▲Research Laboratory Tour ▲Get-to-know Period with SNU College of Engineering Students ▲Engineering Debate ▲Engineering Lecture ▲Group Activity to Debunk Engineering Problems, etc.
After receiving guidance on experiments from SNU College of Engineering professors, participants will each present their findings to each other. During group activity, participants will also solve problems with an engineering approach. In addition, participants will tour around the laboratories of semiconductor and automobile research centers, listen to a lecture by a famous SNU professor and socialize with SNU students to familiarize with college life.
SNU College of Engineering Dean Cha Kook-Heon states, “We are holding the camp annually to provide future engineers with an opportunity to experience the actual lives of college students and engineers. SNU College of Engineering professors and students participate voluntarily to provide the best program.”
Meanwhile, the registration for SNU “Camp for Young Engineering Frontiers” closes on June 24th (Sunday). Registration can be done on the College of Engineering Homepage (http://beegineers.snu.ac.kr) and is open to any natural sciences sophomores. The participants will be selected based on his or her area of interest, school grades, and personal statement. A certificate of participation will be given to students who have finished the camp and an outstanding student or group will receive SNU College of Engineering dean’s certificate of commendation.
