Doctoral dissertations from SNU Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering will be showcased regularly to abroad. On 7th, SNU College of Engineering (Dean Cha Kook-Heon) introduced its new program with the Springer Nature academic publishing company to regularly publish the best doctoral dissertations from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
The Springer Nature filters and publishes notable doctoral dissertations from top research centers like the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in US, Imperial College in England, and Max Plank Institute in Germany.
From now on, SNU Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering will post 1 to 2 doctoral dissertations on the Springer Nature electronically and hard every year.
The most recent publishment was a research titled “A Polymer Cochlear Electrode Array: Atraumatic Deep Insertion, Tripolar Stimulation, and Long-Term Reliability” conducted by Doctor Gwon Tae Mok (and supervised by Professor Kim Sung June).
Doctor Kwon is the first in Korea to have a doctoral thesis be published on the Springer Nature in book form. Marking Kwon’s paper as a starting point, SNU anticipates to add more of its outstanding 4th revolution researches on ICT technology and bio-electrical engineering on publications list.
Professor Lee Byoungho, the Chair of Department of Electrical and Engineering, explains, “Doctoral dissertations were only found in SNU libraries, making them inaccessible to people around the world. This program shall increase the international attention received by SNU doctoral dissertations.”
