Chairman Kim Jungsik of the Mokchon Kimjungsik Foundation and Former CEO Min Keh-sik of the Hyundai Heavy Industries are two of the five recipients of the 11th SNU Award of Excellence for Development.
 
Established in 2008, SNU Award of Excellence for Development is given to an individual or a group of high moral dignity that has largely contributed to the development of SNU. This year’s award ceremony has been held at the SNU Faculty Club on June 19th, 2018.
 
Chairman Kim has graduated from the Department of Architecture and Architectural Engineering of the College of Engineering in 1967 to establish Korea’s largest architectural design firm that has designed some of Korea’s most representative buildings like the Incheon International Airport and the Main Office of the Cheongwadae, the Korean presidential residence. Chairman Kim has also established the Mokchon Kimjungsik Foundation in 2006 to donate scholarship fund and proceed on an architecture archive project. He has donated 1 Billion Korean Won to SNU as development fund and has contributed to the SNU Alumni Association’s building fund and College of Engineering’s scholarship.
 
Former-CEO Min has graduated from the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering of the College of Engineering to enter the Hyundai Heavy Industries. He has led the Hyundai Heavy Industries to become world’s largest shipbuilding industry to greatly booster Korea’s economic growth. Min has also greatly contributed to the development of naval architecture with over 300 patents and 200 research papers. Min has supported the development of SNU since 1987 with the Min Keh-sik International Scholarship, which accumulates to 1 Billion Won, Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering scholarship, etc.
