SNU Hosts the 6^th College of Engineering, College of Medicine, and SNU Hospital Forum on Medical Devices

SNU College of Engineering (Dean Char Kook Heon), College of Medicine (Dean Shin Chan Soo), and SNU Hospital (SNUH) have co-hosted their 6^th Forum on Medical Devices. The event has been held at the 4^th Conference Room of SNU Faculty Club from 1:30 PM of November 2^nd.
 
It is rare occurrence in Korea for the three hosts to gather. The forum has introduced technologies needed at the College of Medicine and hospital with the aims to integrate the skills of the College of Engineering to the medical field for the creation of a synergy effect of the convergence research of the two fields.
 
Starting with a special lecture by a medical device entrepreneur (PCL CEO Kim Soyeon), series of presentations from the College of Medicine and SNUH on variety of topics have commenced. These include: △ HLA Gene Prediction Software (SNU Department of Medicine Professor Han Buhm), △ Implementation of Mixed Reality in Surgery (SNU Obstetrics and Gynecology Professor Chung Hyun Hoon), △ Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Using Robots (SNU Emergency Medicine Professor Kwon Unyong), and △Automatic External Defibrillator Delivery Using Unmanned Vehicle Transport Technology (SNUH Emergency Medicine Professor Kim Kihong).
 
SNU College of Engineering has also sparked its presentations with a special lecture on engineering major entrepreneur (by SNU Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Professor Pahk Heui Jae). Its presentations include: △ Suggestions on Bioimaging and Concurrent Therapy Technology (SNU Department of Materials Science and Engineering Professor Kim Sang-Koog), △Machine learning powered MRI reconstruction (SNU Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Lee Jongho), △ Real-time, Noninvasive Arterial Pressure Assessment Using Pressure Sensor (SNU Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Seo Jong Mo), and Semiconductor Technology for High-Precision Sensors of Medical Devices (SNU Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Kim Suhwan).
 
Dean Char who has supervised the forum comments, “This forum has been a stage for academic interactions on specialized topics. It has provided an opportunity to boost the further development of medical services through the convergence research between the engineering and medical fields.”
