Masters Candidate Chung Gu Lee of SNU Graduate School of Engineering Practice Receives Prime Minister’s Commendation at the 2018 New Technology Promotion Conference

SNU College of Engineering (Dean Kook Heon Char) announced on 27^th that masters candidate Chung Gu Lee of the Graduate School of Engineering Practice (GSEP) has received the Prime Minister’s Commendation at the 2018 New Technology Promotion Conference.
 
This event was hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) to inbreathe a zeal for the development of new technologies to Korean industries and cultivate a new market for authorized products to be sold to public organizations.
 
The Prime Minister’s Commendation was given as a recognition of contributions to new technology commercialization including advancing the localization of 1000MW ultrasuper-critical (USC) power plant construction industry and raising the foreign market awareness through providing technology evaluation support to qualify equipment and tools of 5 companies.
 
Lee currently is working at the Korea Midland Power (KOMIPO) and researching on the prognostic technique for power plant turbine blades under Professor Byeng Dong Youn of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
 
Lee was especially praised for his joint research and development on Fourth Industrial Revolution related power plant technologies whilst fulfilling his job and study.
 
Lee expressed, “I am glad that my efforts to develop new technology and product through industry-university collaboration research and development have been acknowledged. I will strive for the growth of new Korean industries.”
 
The SNU Graduate School of Engineering Practice opened in March of 2016 to raise on-site engineering leaders competent in all engineering areas. The school educates its students with professional engineering knowledge that enable them to come up with solutions at industrial sites.
