SNU Professor Eunnyeong Heo Elected as President of Korean Resource Economics Association

SNU College of Engineering (Dean Kook-Heon Char) announced on 19th that Professor Eunnyeong Heo of the Department of Energy Systems Engineering have been nominated as the new president of the Korea Resource Economics Association at its general assembly hosted at Sungkyunkwan University on February 14th.
The Korea Resource Economics Association, established in 1989, gathers scholars and experts specializing in economics and policies related to energy, resources, and environment to conduct researches on energy market, energy industry, resource security, climate change, and related policies.
Around 450 experts are part of this association. The association also serves as the Korean branch of the International Association of Energy Economics (IAEE), the largest international society on the field of energy economics.
Furthermore, the association has been publishing the “Environmental and Resource Economics Review” with the Korea Environmental Economics Association and “Korean Energy Economics Review” with the Korea Energy Economics Institute. It also hosts regular forums and debates under the title of “Issue Paper,” “No-No Debate,” Policy Debate, etc.
Professor Heo served as the chief editor and the senior vice president of the Korea Resource Economics Association. He worked as members of numerous international societies including vice president of communication for the IAEE and editor of The Energy Journal. He also filled the positions as members of numerous government committees including the Energy Commission, Sustainable Development Commission, Presidential Committee on Green Growth, National Economics Advisory Council, and Presidential Committee on the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Heo expressed, “Energy resource economics is important for the future society. I will provide opportunities to conduct in-depth researches on energy and resources, energy and environment, new renewable energy, and related political issues with Korean experts.”
