SNU College of Engineering and Yangyang County's Smart City Join Forces for Research
Advisory on IT businesses such as smart agriculture and operation of curricula for start-up businesses

SNU College of Engineering and Yangyang County of the Gangwon Province have signed a business agreement for research cooperation in smart cities. SNU will join forces as a university carrying out the "Smart City Innovative Human Resources Development Project" designated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in seeking directions for Yangyang County to develop into a smart city.
Dean Kookheon Char of the SNU College of Engineering and Jin-ha Kim, Mayor of Yangyang County, attended the signing ceremony held at the small meeting room of SNU College of Engineering on November 27. Through the agreement, SNU and Yangyang County promised to aid the development and operative cooperation regarding smart tourism, IT projects equivalent to smart agriculture, analysis of urban data for smart city policy development and education courses to foster innovative talents in smart cities.
The agreement will last until the year 2024. At SNU College of Engineering, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering will serve as a working-level cooperation department, and will work with the Yangyang County Office on human resources and academic exchanges for mutual development and start-up curricula.
"We will cooperate to achieve the development of smart cities in the Yangyang county based on the infrastructure of professors at SNU College of Engineering and smart city elements technology being developed at the SNU Siheung campus," said Dean Kookheon Char.
