In Celebration of SNU College of Engineering EPM's 10th Anniversary, the 6th EPM Congress 2020 is Held

- 'Korea's New Deal and Project Ecosystem' theme
- Non-face-to-face online live congress held in response to COVID-19

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of EPM, a live online congress was held

SNU College of Engineering (Dean Kookheon Char) held its 6th "EPM Congress" in collaboration with the Engineering Project Management (EPM) course at the College of Engineering on December 11. In particular, the event was held on the main theme of the "Korean New Deal and Project Ecosystem" to commemorate the 10th anniversary of EPM.

The entire congress was held online in a non-face-to-face manner to cope with the current COVID-19 situation and was successfully held with the participation of professionals in the field such as Young-Tae Cho, Head of Policy Development Office of the Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development, Professor Juyeon Lee of the Graduate School of Science Technology Policy at Ajou University and Professor Chaisung Lim of Konkuk University, the Korean representative of the US Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC). In particular, the event, that was held online can be re-watched for three months (epmcamp.snu.ac.kr).

The EPM Congress was first launched in February 2018 to create engineering jobs and new business opportunities, and as it was held twice a year, it was held six times in total so far. Its goal is to build an innovative growth platform for the fourth industrial revolution that can design feasible projects in 2020 and carry out continuous result-generating projects by 2030.

"The world is in a turbulent whirlwind due to the unprecedented outbreak of COVID-19, but the EPM Congress expects to play a role as a platform that gathers wisdom to overcome such a crisis and design a better future.
The EPM process will continue to grow in a progressively advanced form to create sustainable results that expand beyond the achievements of the last 10 years" said Professor JunBoum Park of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering during his opening speech.

The event, along with SNU members, was attended by other interested students and industry-academic experts and a round table meeting was held as a ceremony to look back on the past and present while discussing the direction for future development under the theme of 'The Season 1 EPM Congress; 2018 to 2020, The Season 2 EPM Congress; 2020 to 2030'. Following Professor JunBoum Park's opening speech, the official events took place. The keynote lecture of the theme "Balanced national development and balanced regional new deal" followed by special lectures of 'The "Korean version of New Deal, Science and Technology Innovation" and "Big Data and Social Network Analysis" were held.

As a special program for the morning event, the EPM research lab's 'Star Project Manager (SPM)' authentication system was introduced and a certificate plaque was awarded to 50 people, including Jae-hyun Lee (Graduate School of Engineering Practice M.S. student). Certifiers will play a role as experts on future platforms based on EPM's knowledge and experience.

The afternoon event began with a session opening regarding the special topic of 'The Korean New Deal Project Ecosystem' by Byung Jun Kang, the Certified Engineering Project Manager of NFN, followed by Professor Chaisung Lim's keynote presentation on 'BizOps for Digital Transformation of Industries; A New Innovative Process' and a session presentation and debate under the theme of 'The Korean New Deal Project, Program, Portfolio Management'.

In addition, a group discussion under the theme of "AI for PM" and "PM for AI" for the "Artificial Intelligence and Project Management" conference was led by the engineering researcher Jeong-Hyeon Park with SNU Professor Changwoo Park taking the position of the moderator while professionals such as Professor DaeGeun Hong of Pohang University of Science and Technology, Eunsang Yoon - PMC of the National Agency for Administrative City and Dr. Jeong Jio of the SNU AI Committee led the panel debate.

"We had a lot of difficulties in preparing to host the event in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, but we will try our very best to gather our wisdom on a new congregation platform when preparing for the upcoming 2021 EPM Congress to ensure it becomes a place for progression and growth," said the corresponding SNU EPM Professor who was part of the preparation process of this event. "Although the 10th anniversary of EPM, which was scheduled to be held together this year, has been postponed due to COVID-19, we will present a future vision to create sustainable values and continue to implement it," he added.
