SNU College of Engineering, the 70th Anniversary Installation of ‘Engineers to be emulated’ busts
- Selection of three role models for the students in College of Engineering and the unveiling ceremony of the busts

SNU College of Engineering (Dean Lee Kun-woo) stated on 23rd that three busts of 'Engineers to be emulated' are installed to provide students role model alumni as celebration of the school's 70th anniversary.
 
Since last January, SNU College of Engineering finished the Dean Review of bust selectors, and requested College of Engineering departments and alumni for recommendations of eligible people. After February, they finished the recommendation process through the reports of the College of Engineering Planning Committee and Academic Affairs Committee, and finally selected three people through the evaluation of the Selection Committee. The construction of the busts started in May.
 
The selected people are the late Jeong Seok-kyu, Kim Jeong-shik and Heo Jin-gyu. The late Jeong Seok-kyu alumnus graduated Chemical Engineering Department in 1957, founded Taesung Rubber and contributed Korean rubber industry. Also, he practiced the spirit of sharing by donating buildings, SNU Sinyang Digital Library and Sinyang Liberal Digital Library, and by entrusting the management authority of the Sinyang Cultural Foundation to SNU.
 
Kim Jeong-shik graduated Communication Engineering, founded Dae Duck Industry and Dae Duck Electronics and contributed in Korean electronics industry by developing and localizing PCB. Also, he established Haedong Science Foundation and donated SNU Haedong Digital Library, Haedong Academic Cultural Hall, Haedong Idea Factory. Through these practices, he provided a place for learning which enables students to learn and research independently.
 
Alumnus Heo Jin-gyu graduated Department of Metallurgical Engineering in 1963, founded Iljin Group and contributed in Korean material and component industry by developing and localizing industrial diamonds. Also, he established Dukmyeung Cultural Foundation (former Iljin Science and Technology Foundation) in 1993 and provided economic supports for the talented in science and engineering; he donated a building, a Joint Research Institution for advanced materials.
 
Meanwhile, the unveiling ceremony of the busts was held in History Information Hall in 2nd floor of SNU 39 building at 11:30 am on 23rd. Attendees are SNU president Sung Nak-in, the president of the Ministry of Education and the president of the graduate schools Park Chan-wook, the president of the Planning Department Hwang In-gyu, the dean of the College of Engineering Lee Kun-wo, a representative of the bereaved family of the late Jeong Seok-kyu, Kim Jeong-shik and Heo Jin-gyu.
