SNU Professor Myung Hwan Yun inaugurated as the 20th President of the Ergonomics Society of Korea and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for IEA 2024 JEJU.

SNU College of Engineering (Dean Kookheon Char) announced on January 2 that Professor Myung Hwan Yun (56, photo) of the Department of Industrial Engineering took office on January 1 as the 20th President of the Ergonomics Association of Korea and Chairman of the organizing committee of the International Ergonomics Association (IEA 2024 JEJU).
The ESK, which Professor Yoon will lead for the next two years, is an academic society that studies the design of products and work environments according to human abilities and characteristics. In addition, IEA 2024 JEJU, of which Professor Yoon is the Chairman of, is an international congress themed as "Better Human Engineering for Future Humans," that expects about 1,500 ergonomics experts from around the world as participants.
After graduating from SNU's Department of Industrial Engineering, Professor Yoon received his doctorate in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering from Pennsylvania State University in the U.S. He has academically contributed by studying human engineering, human-computer interaction, user-centered product design, human dynamics, emotional engineering and ubiquitous computing. He has actively played his role as Head of the Global Center for Engineers, Executive Director of IEA and as Chairman of IEA Congress 2024.
"As the Chairman of ESK and Chairman of IEA 2024, I will do my best to contribute in academic development," said Professor Yoon. "I will use this as an opportunity to lead the world through my research on ergonomics regarding the convenience of our lifestyles and bettering of the environment,” he added.
