Kwangkeun Yi, Professor of College of Engineering at SNU, Publishes MIT Press Graduate Textbook

SNU College of Engineering (Dean Kookheon Char) announced on April 1 that Professor Kwangkeun Yi of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering published a book  through MIT Press that compiled the study of static analysis over the past 30 years.
 
Professor Kwangkeun Yi's book is titled "Introduction to Static Analysis: an Abstract Interpretation Perspective" (ISBN 9780262043410). Static analysis technology automatically analyzes software to predict the execution results of software and is widely applied at all stages of development of major software.
 
This book contains the general theory, algorithm, and practical application technology of static analysis technology. Through its publication by MIT Press,  which specializes in academic writing regarding science and technology, the book is expected to be widely used as a major textbook in the field of static analysis worldwide.
 
In particular, the book introduces static analysis technology in an easily understandable manner so that it is not only the professional researchers but also the students and non-experts of software development sites that can easily understand it. Further, it is claimed that the book is excellent as not only a textbook but also as an introductory level book as it includes every detail about high-tech application technology.
 
"Static analysis technology is widely applied to automatic error detection and correction, automatic security verification, optimization verification, and neuron verification of software in areas where quality assurance is important, such as artificial intelligence, space, automobile, medical, and national defense related fields," stated Professor Yi. "From dealing with the theoretical basis of static analysis to the basics of implementation technology, this is a complete comprehensive book on static analysis," he added.
 
Mayur Naik, Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania in the U.S., stated in the recommendation comment section that "In an era where software is becoming increasingly sophisticated and complex, the writer, an expert in the theory and application of static analysis, has brought together this increasingly important field into one book."
 
Meanwhile, the book, "Introduction to Statistical Analysis: an Abstract Interpretation Perspective," was co-authored by Professor Xavier Rival of the Ecole Normale Superiorieure in Paris. The book is being sold worldwide through online retailers like Amazon.
