A team of Professors from the SNU (President Se-Jung Oh) Department of Computer Science and Engineering will carry out a number of joint research projects with Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA), which is renown for its world-class artificial intelligence capabilities.

The project was promoted as a "global corporate linkage" project for the Ministry of Science and ICT's 2020 global human resources training project, and a total of 12 project tasks were selected through a public competition of suggesting creative ideas under the research topics set by MSRA.
Three of these project tasks were joined by Professor Byung-Gon Chun and Professor Youngki Lee of the SNU Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Professor Sungroh Yoon of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. From the month of June, the Professors will conduct a year-long study, with Professor Byung-Gon Chun addressing the research topic of global data center log summary technology, Professor Youngki Lee on edge server-based low-lying deep learning system technology, and Professor Sungroh Yoon on artificial intelligence-based ultra-light voice synthesis and ranking big data analysis technology.

Through the project, students from the SNU Department of  Computer Science and Engineering and the Department Electrical and Computer Engineering will visit MSRA in person to conduct the joint research. The students that are selected as researchers will be jointly guided by MSRA's world-class artificial intelligence experts for six months to attain world-class research results and establish a global network of cooperation.

"I am happy to have been selected for a joint research project with Microsoft," said Professor Youngki Lee. "Through this collaborative research, we will be sure to a pave the path for research with through our achievements," he said.
