Selects 4 Proud Alumni
- Professor Sang-Gook Kim of MIT and three others raised the honor of their alma mater by contributing to the development of industrial technology
- Multiple contributions in the fields of ICT industries, semiconductors as well as to microelectronic control technologies

Seoul National University College of Technology (Dean Kookheon Char) selected Professor Sang-Gook Kim of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at MIT, Chairman Dong-Hyun Jang of SK Co., Ltd., Chief Executive Officer Myungbae Choi of YIK Co., Ltd. and Gyo-young Jin, Head of Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology as "Proud Alumni” of the College of Engineering and an awarding ceremony took place on April 7. The Proud Engineering Alumni Award is given to alumni of Seoul National University's College of Engineering who have honored their alma mater for their contributions to industrial technology development and academic achievement and from 1993 to now, within 28 years, 29 individuals of overseas activities, 69 individuals of domestic activities and a total of 98 awardees have been produced.
 
CEO Dong-Hyun Jang of SK Inc. graduated from the Department of Industrial Engineering in 1987 and after being the CEO of SK Telecom, for him to be where he is today, he has not only contributed to the development of ICT but also contributed to fostering and developing the fields of ESG industries including high-tech materials, bio, green, and digital and others for sustainable development in the future.
 
CEO Myungbae Choi of YIK Co., Ltd., graduated from the Department of Metallurgical Engineering in 1975 and after working at Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and Exicon Co., Ltd., he is currently the head of YIK and Exicon Group, contributing to the development of South Korea's semiconductor industry, advanced ceramic parts and materials business.
 
Gyo-young Jin, head of Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering in 1985 and through his contributions like playing a key role in maintaining global super-differential product technology through leading the development and commercialization of DRAM and memory technology at Samsung Electronics, he has greatly contributed to the development of semiconductor technologies and industrial development.
 
Professor Sang-Gook Kim of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at MIT graduated from the Department of Mechanical Design in 1978, led the commercialization of MEMS technology at Daewoo Electronics and has been a professor at MIT since 2001. As a leader in the field of fine processing and design, he contributes greatly to the development of technology and industry in all areas related to MEMS. Unfortunately, he was absent from the awards ceremony due to personal circumstances.
 
"The four winners are leaders and proud alumni of the College of Engineering who have created new values for the global industry and the Korean society by breaking the limits faced by the industry. I applaud and respect their constant enthusiasm and effort," said Dean Kookheon Char while sending his congratulations.
 
On this day, the awards ceremony involved sharing the screening process of the Proud Alumni Awards and the achievements of the awardees, awarding of the plaques and souvenirs and congratulatory greetings from Dean Kookheon Char followed by comments from the three winners.
