The Seoul National University College of Engineering announced on May 24 that it held the first completion ceremony of the "2021 mySUNI-Seoul National University Machine Learning Engineer Course" jointly established by SK Group's in-house education platform mySUNI and Seoul National University's engineering college.
 
This course, aiming to foster working-level machine learning engineers in the SK Group, had its curriculum developed jointly by mySUNI and Seoul National University and 8 weeks of the 9 weeks of educational training involves Specialized Deep Learning sessions with SNU College of Engineering Professors who are experts in the AI field carrying out both lectures and training for Mathematics/Basics of Machine Learning, Foundations of Machine learning, Understanding of Deep Learning, analysis of various data (images, tables, graphs, language etc.) and during the 9th week, the Capstone Challenge, which develops machine learning/deep learning algorithms based on field data and competes for excellence, is designed to enhance the field application capability of the contents that was learnt.
 
The ceremony was attended by 27 people who were selected from SK's group companies that had successfully completed the course as well as Yoon Hyun - the mySUNI AI&DT College leader, Sungroh Yoon - presidential chairman of the 4th Industrial Revolution Committee (Professor of the SNU Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering) and Thomas Kang - head of Seoul National University's Global Education Center for Engineers (Professor of SNU Department of Architecture & Architectural Engineering).
 
"I sincerely thank the trainees and Seoul National University for successfully completing the intensive curriculum created by SK and the nation's top universities to foster AI talent. I expect that they will play a leading role as AI practitioners that will lead SK Group's AI/DT promotion." said Yoon Hyun, the leader of mySUNI AI&DT College.
 
"As computing power develops, AI technology is in full bloom. The more you know, the more you utilize it, the more AI ideas change to become more brilliant. The AI practitioners produced through this curriculum are valuable assets not only to the SK Group but also to Korea," said Thomas Kang, head of Seoul National University's Global Education Center for Engineers as he congratulated them.
 
mySUNI-Seoul National University's Machine Learning Engineer course started with 29 graduates in December 2020, and plans to foster more than 100 Machine Learning engineers by the end of the year, including 27 first year graduates in 2021. In addition, mySUNI and Seoul National University will collaborate to help nurtured personnel return to work and successfully carry out AI tasks through this course. The second year of 2021 will begin on July 5th after the recommendation and selection of trainees by each SK group company.
