“A Bundle of Fresh Engineering Ideas” Highlights the 2018 Creative Design Fair Hosted by SNU College of Engineering

SNU College of Engineering (Dean Cha Kook-heon) has hosted the 2018 Creative Design Fair from September 9^th to 14^th with the support of DB Kim Jun Ki Cultural Foundation.
 
This year is the seventh hosting of the SNU Creative Design Fair, which has been launched initially under the aims to raise students that fulfill the vision of the College of Engineering, educate on the importance of creative design and its application in engineering, and boost the spirit of teamwork and cooperation between departments.
 
The presentation and evaluation of the entry works have been conducted at the pilotis space of Global Education Center for Engineers (Building No. 38) and the award ceremony has been held at the BK Hall (Building No. 39). The award has been presented by President Jung Hong-yong and the executive team of the DB Cultural Foundation. After the ceremony, special lectures have been delivered by Director Na Hyun-cheol (SNU Department of Electrical Engineering Class of 1991) of DB HiTek and Professor Dennis Hong of UCLA Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
 
The main event of this fair, “Capstone Design Fair,” has assembled a total of 29 teams covering a wide range of departments including architectural, mechanical and aerospace, electrical and computer, naval architecture and ocean, computer, chemical and biological engineering. This year, the 21 X-Corps teams, which are only participating in the presentation but not the competition, and regular participants have collaboratively operated the fair booths.
 
The grand award of the “Capstone Design Fair” has been given to Team “Son-Yi-Tan” that has developed assistive device that provides hand mobility to disabled people. The two excellence awards have been presented to Team “Monkey Mouth” and “City-Saver” and the three participation awards have been delivered to Team “Butler,” “SNJ,” and “Kong-Dol-ee Production.” The sponsor of this program, DB Kim Jun Ki Cultural Foundation, has offered prize money and a chance to study overseas to all award recipients.
 
Meanwhile, along with the Creative Design Fair, the SNU College of Engineering has also hosted its college fair “夏모르파티.” This event, hosted primarily by the student council of College of Engineering, consists of a variety of sub-events including experience booths, talk shows, and concert all held at the Central Square of the College of Engineering.
