Seoul National University's College of Engineering announced on June 1 that it has signed a comprehensive mutual cooperation MOU with GS Shop.

The contents of mutual cooperation are △Delivery of scholarships to foster AI talent, △Operating colloquiums with SNU faculty and GS Shop executives and △Industry-academic cooperation tasks that apply AI technology to the e-commerce sector.

The signing ceremony was held at Seoul National University with Kookheon Char - Dean of the College of Engineering, AI expert faculty professors, Director Jong Hyuk Lee, AI center director Hyungil Park of GS Shop and many others as participants.

If traditional industry-academic cooperation was a customized method for demand in the form of technology development that reflects industrial needs, Seoul National University's College of Engineering plans to build a technology-leading industry-academic cooperation model to improve the constitution of companies.

To this end, the two organizations plan to jointly develop various unstructured analysis and related AI technologies that can be used in e-commerce. In addition, through the colloquium run by experts from both institutions, it is their plan to create a comprehensive mutual cooperation system which includes new cooperation tasks, exchanges of technologies and data related to tasks, as well as workshops for excellent talent exchanges and problem solving in the AI field which will be derived by examining trends in AI new technology and industrial applicability.

“In order to prepare for the present and rapidly changing future facing the post-corona era, closer industry-academic cooperation between universities and industry is necessary. In that regard, we expect that this comprehensive mutual cooperation with GS Shop will serve as a good industrial-educational cooperation model between universities and businesses,” said Dean Kookheon Char of Seoul National University's College of Engineering.

“We expect this agreement to become an important technological foundation for the change and growth of the e-commerce industry, which is rapidly transitioning to digital,” said Jong Hyuk Lee, managing director of GS Shop.
