Seoul National University College of Engineering has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Saman Corporation, in partnership with SNU’s Department of Civil and Environmental and Engineering and the Institute of Construction and Environmental Engineering. The agreement aims to strengthen South Korea’s design capabilities in construction and environmental engineering through the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
Through this MOU, the two institutions have committed to jointly developing key technologies tailored to the AI era and nurturing the next generation of leaders in construction and environmental design.
As a leading engineering consulting firm that has driven digital transformation in the field, Saman Corporation plans to provide software developed for research and development (R&D) to SNU’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Institute of Construction and Environmental Engineering.
These tools will be actively incorporated into both undergraduate and graduate education and research at SNU. Additionally, the university intends to organize policy forums aimed at advancing design capabilities in the construction and environmental sectors.
Professor Ho-Kyung Kim, Director of the Institute of Construction and Environmental Engineering at SNU, remarked, “This MOU marks the starting point for the systematic integration of advanced technologies from industry into academic research and curricula in construction, environmental, and urban engineering. It will also serve as a foundation for cultivating the next generation of experts.” He added, “Our goal is to establish a leading model for university-industry collaboration that contributes to making Korea a global leader in smart construction.”
Dong-Sig Choi, CEO of Saman Corporation, stated, “This partnership with Seoul National University is a key step toward enhancing the country’s design capacity in the construction and environmental sectors in response to the AI era. I hope this close collaboration between the two institutions will help us lead in future technologies and strengthen the global competitiveness of Korea’s construction industry.”
