Announcement on Changes in Re-entry Permit System

This is announce that Re-entry Permit System will change as specified below as all entrants from overseas are required to submit a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate starting January 8 (Fri.), 2021 in response to recent spread of the highly transmissible new coronavirus strains.
□ Mandatory submission of negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate by foreigners issued with Re-entry Permit
⦁ (Current) Foreigners re-entering the ROK with a Re-entry Permit are required to submit a negative COVID-19 PCR certificate, a medical certificate, or a medical examination exemption certificate.
⦁ (After the Change) Foreigners re-entering the ROK with a Re-entry Permit are required to submit a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate.
- A negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate is deemed valid only when issued within 72 hours prior to departure.
※ Application for 'Medical Examination Exemption Certificate' for Re-entry Permit is no longer available.
□ Date of Enforcement
⦁ All foreigners entering the ROK are required to submit a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate as of 00:00 January 8 (Fri.), 2021.
- Foreigners with a Re-entry Permit (including those exempted from medical examination) issued before January 8 (Fri.), 2021 are also required to submit a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate if entering the nation after 00:00 January 8 (Fri.), 2021.
Notice on Re-entry Permit System and Submission of Diagnosis for Re-entry into ROK
(from June 1st, 2020)
■ As of June 2020, foreign residents seeking re-entry into the ROK after departure from the country are required to obtain a Re-entry Permit and submit a medical certificate issued by a local medical institution upon re-entry into the ROK in accordance with Article 30 of the Immigration Act.
■ Re-entry Permit can be applied for at a Jurisdictional Immigration (branch) Office, and application by in-person visit is available during the month of June without making a prior visit reservation. (In-person visit application is readily available at ports and airports, regardless of jurisdiction)
