The late Chairman Kim Jeong-sik donated KRW 53 billion to the SNU College of Engineering to support interdisciplinary education and research activities, as well as the establishment and operation of spaces for such activities. The fund was used to build the Haedong Advanced Engineering Building, which is scheduled to complete the construction in April 2024.
The Haedong Advanced Engineering Center will play a role in nurturing talent to pioneer the future through interdisciplinary research and education in all fields of engineering. It will serve as an efficient research and educational space where individuals can freely communicate. Some of the center’s roles are developing support strategies for strengthening advanced engineering technological capabilities within the College of Engineering, promoting industry-academia collaboration, and devising strategies for linking entrepreneurship.
