Dear International Students!
Welcome to the College of Engineering at SNU, and welcome to Korea! We are very happy to have you at our college, contributing to a growing international community on our campus and bringing in valuable expertise and ideas from abroad.
Life is not always easy for international students; you are facing a different culture and a new language during your stay at SNU. Especially in the beginning you probably have lots of questions related to your studies at SNU and to your private life in Korea: how do I sign up (and cancel) classes, where can I get health insurance, how do I tell the taxi driver to drive me home, and where can I find a cheap room?
The Korean Language Class for International Students of the College of Engineering and their family members has been designed to take the edge off the most urgent problems you are expected to face during the first few months here at SNU. In the class, you will both learn survival Korean and be introduced to Korean culture and customs. In addition, the class is also a great opportunity to meet and make friends with other international students and to get to know our excellent staff in charge of international affairs at the College of Engineering.
The class takes place twice a week for ten weeks (Mar. 19 to May 24, 2018) from 7 to 9pm at room B117 or B119, building 39. Participation is voluntary; we hope that many of you will take this opportunity and invest a little time to get to know this great country, its language, people and customs, and the procedures at SNU a bit better.
This spring we plan to offer an intermediate level class for students who attended the beginner level in fall or know the Korean alphabet and have limited Korean skills. This class will only be offered if there are enough participants; it is therefore important that you indicate the level of the class you would like to attend on your application form.
(Application Deadline : March 23rd)
You can sign up for the class by filling out the attached application form and returning it to the Welcome Center by email (welcome@snu.ac.kr) or in person (room 202, building 38, tel: 02-880-1172/3). The class is free if you attend at least 80% of the lectures; otherwise the small sign-up fee will be used to cover expenses for the class.
Once again, welcome to the College of Engineering.
