SNU College of Engineering (Dean Lee Kun-woo) stated that Jang Hyuk, a student from Department of Computer Science and Engineering, was granted a grand prize for the '1st Young Engineers Honor Society Leadership Awards' from The National Academy of Engineering of Korea.
Young Engineers Honor Society Leadership Awards were founded to discover creative and challenging engineers, and to promote engineers to solve social problems. For these, Kwon Ohjoon (Posco CEO), a chief director of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea, devoted his private fortune.
Jang Hyuk founded a VR technology company, 'Polariant', and invented the 3D motion controller system using the light polarization. He was acknowledged for the growth potential with attraction of the investments of domestic and foreign major companies, and was awarded the grand prize.
For the excellence awards, Lee Min-jung (Sungkyunkwan Univ.), Lee Min-hong (Seoul National Univ.), Lee Jun-Young (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), Gu Bon-hong (Yonsei Univ.), Kim Joo-sung (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), and Ryoo Seung-wan (Sogang Univ.) were awarded.
Meanwhile, the awarding ceremony will be held on December 14th, in the Westin Chosun Hotel Orchid Room, Jung-gu, Seoul, and the awardees for the grand prize and the excellence awards are granted ten million won and five million won, respectively..
