SNU College of Engineering Dean Lee Kun-woo, selected as the 13th president of the KSEE


SNU College of Engineering stated on 2nd that Dean Lee Kun-woo was selected as the 13th president of the Korean Society for Engineering Education (KSEE). The term is two years from January 1st 2017 to December 31st 2018.
 
The KSEE is an academic society of the domestic engineering education scholars founded in 1993. It is working to create values with engineering and train engineering who will lead positive social changes. Its main works are researches on engineering education institution and policy, academic conference, and international exchange and joint business with foreign engineering education society. Especially, last year, they successfully hosted WEEF&GEDC 2016 (The World Engineering Education Forum & the Global Engineering Deans Council, 2016) with 1000 people of 55 countries.
 
The new president Dean Lee Kun-woo said "We live in society where engineering education has large effect on social changes. I will work on cultivating competent engineers by establishing new paradigm in engineering education."
 
Dean Lee Kun-woo graduated in SNU Department of Mechanical Engineering, received the masters and the Ph.D. degree at MIT in the USA. He served as a faculty member of SNU Department of Mechanical Engineering since 1986 and now in dean position of SNU College of Engineering. Dean Lee is currently a member of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology, the vice president of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea, an executive committee member of the Global Engineering Deans Council, and the president of the Korean Engineering Deans Council. He was acknowledge of this excellent works and was awarded of Young Engineer Awards of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea in 2004, the Science Technology Excellent Paper Award of the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies in 2005, the Kyung Ahm Academic Awards in 2006, and etc.
