SNU College of Engineering (Dean Lee Kun-woo) stated on 3rd that the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Ph.D. Candidate Kyeongtae Bang (Advisor Professor Haecheon Choi) received Young Investigator Award of ICSS 2016 (International Congress on Science and Skiing 2016).

The ICSS is an authoritative international academic conference among prominent athletes and scientists of winter sports such as alpine ski, cross-country, ski jump, and etc. The ICSS rewards Young Investigator Award with sponsorship of FédérationInternationale de Ski.

Mr. Bang, the awardee of 2016 Young Investigator Award, suggested a jumping posture for the largest distance to two ski jumper of the national team through his paper ‘posture optimization of ski jumper for better aerodynamic performance: 1. Experiment’. He was also awarded of Young Investigator Award of 2016 7th Asia Conference on Kinesiology.

Mr. Bang said, "I am thankful for Professor Haecheon Choi for all his advice on the research.", and said, "This is especially meaningful that I have overcome the European researchers of ski powerhouse."

Meanwhile, this research was supported by 'sports scientification and convergence research project' of Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning. The research director was Professor Haecheon Choi and members of the research team are SNU, the Air Force Academy, Aju University, and the national ski jump team. They are researching with the objective of increasing flight distance and developing jump ski.
