SNU Professor Seung-Woo Seo was awarded
of the 58th 3·1 Culture Awards Technology Prize

SNU College of Engineering (Dean Lee Kun-woo) stated that Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Seung-Woo Seo was awarded of the 58th 3·1 Culture Awards Technology Prize.
 
Professor Seo is the director of the Intelligent Vehicle IT (IVIT) Research Center, and produced a detailed 3-dimentional map for the autonomous vehicle. Moreover, he independently developed technology of recognition and judgment based on sensor and developed autonomous vehicle 'SNUver'; he was awarded Technology Prize for such achievements.
 
Meanwhile, Professor Seo received his B.S. and M.S. degree from SNU Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and received electric engineering Ph.D. degree of Pennsylvania State University, USA. He served as a faculty member of SNU Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering since 2009, and served as a director of LG Electronics Smart Car Research Center in SNU since 2013. In 2015, he was awarded of the 25th Haedong Academic Award of the Institute of Electronics and information Engineering.
 
3·1 Culture Award is founded by 3·1 Cultural Foundation to inherit the spirit of 3·1 Movement of 1960. This is awarded annually to a person who contributed to cultural enhancement and industrial development; the awardee receives a plaque and 50 million Won.
