Professors of Seoul National University College of Engineering (Kunwoo Lee) Kukjin Chun, Changhee Lee and Byoung-Tak Zhang were awarded medals and merits from the Acting President and Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn on the ceremony of 2017 Science and Telecommunication Day.
At the event held by Ministry of Science and IcT and Korea Communications Commision, meritorious medals, presidential citations and prime minister’s awards were awarded to 124 people who received recognition for their effort for the Science Techonology and Telecommunication.
Prof. Kukjin Chun of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering developed the fourth generation wireless communication transceiver. He was recognized for his contribution to science and technology development by constructing the first domestic microelectromechanical system manufacturing facility and thus awarded the Changjo medal, which is the best medal in science and technology promotion division.
Prof. Changhee Lee was awarded a Doyak Medal (4th grade) in science and technology promotion division as he developed core technologies of OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) display and QLED (Quantum dot Light Emitting Diode).
Prof. Byung-Tak Zhang was awarded Order of Service Merit as a global authority of machine learning and deep learning which realize Artificial Intelligence (AI).
