Jae-Wook Lim of Department of Nuclear Engineering, received the ‘James Hansen Courage Award’

The Seoul National University College of Engineering (Dean, Kookheon Char) announced that undergraduate third grade student Jae-Wook Lim of Department of Nuclear Engineering received the ‘James Hansen Courage Award’ from Michael Shellenberger, who is founder of Environmental Progress, at the regular meeting of the Korea Nuclear Society on October 26^th.
 
This prize, which is named after world-renowned climate change expert James Hansen, is awarded to a person who contributed to the reduction of greenhouse gases. In this year, ten labor, student, and academic leader has received the prize for their successful defense of New Kori Nuclear Power Plants.

Mr.Lim was highly praised for his advertisements on the safety and benefit of the Shin-Kori Nuclear Power Plants. He played crucial role in the resumption of the nuclear power plants construction. 
 
Mr.Lim, who is a student representative of the Department of the Nuclear Engineering, played a key role in announcing a statement from domestic students of Department of Nuclear Engineering that against the energy policy, which opposes the nuclear energy. Furthermore, he led the announcement of statement from SNU Engineering students that states problems about exclusion of experts in the process of the energy policy formulation.
 
In addition, he made an address at the contest, which opposes the stopping of the construction of Shin-Kori Nuclear Power Plants, and actively informed people of the problems of the energy policy through social network service.
 
Mr.Lim said, "I am very delighted to receive the prize thanks to the activities that advertise nuclear energy. Through this prize, I will continuously endeavor to protect environment.”
