Seoul National University College of Engineering, will host 2017 Shinyang Engineering Academy Award

Seoul National University College of Engineering (Dean Kookheon Char) will hold the "2017 Shinyang Engineering Academy Award Ceremony" at Seoul National University's Engineer House Auditorium on November 15th at 12:00.
 
2017 Shinyang Engineering Academy Award Winners are Professor Yongsu Na of Department of Nuclear Engineering (education sector), Professor Byengdong Yoon of Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Professor Byonghyo Shim of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Professor Jinwook Seo of Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Professor Jae-Yeol Cho of Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Professor Doheui Kim of School of Chemical and Biological Engineering (academic sector).
 
The Shinyang Engineering Academy Award was funded by Seoul National University College of Engineering Alumni, the late Seok-gyu Chung (chair of the Shinyang Cultural Foundation), who is also a founder of the company TSR. The award was established to support young professors and it was named after the Chair Chung.
 
The most outstanding professors among the young professors under the age of 49 who are promoted to professors and associate professors at Seoul National University College of Engineering has been received the award. It was first established in 2005, and this year is the thirteenth. This year, 75 professors have been awarded the awards, which has greatly contributed to research activities and morale.
 
Meanwhile, Chair the late Seok-gyu Chung, who established Shinyang Engineering Academy Award, has graduated from Seoul National University, Department of Chemical Engineering in 1952, and operated a company TSR for 50 years. In 2001, he established the Shinyang Cultural Foundation with the proceeds from the sale of the company. Furthermore, he built and donated the Shingyang I, II, and III buildings that have advanced information search room and reading room to Seoul National University.
 
Since 2005, the Shinyang Cultural Foundation has been transferred to the Shinyang Academic Information Center on campus and the Chari Chung passed away in 2015 at age of 85. Currently, Shin Yang Cultural Foundation is operated by Seoul National University.
