Professor Kwangkeun Yi of Department of Computer Science and Engineering won the Seoul National University Education Award and Professor Yoonyoung Kim of Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering won the Seoul National University Academic Research Award.
Seoul National University Education Award is awarded to the Professor who developed creative education method and high-quality lecture, or who have great passion for education.
Professor Kwangkeun Yi, who received the Education Award, has devoted considerable effort to developing high-quality lectures in the major and the liberal arts classes, and to teach computer science to both computer science major students and non-major students. The course
Seoul National University Academic Research Award is awarded to professors who have excelled in research through creative and active research activities in order to encourage researchers and to enhance research competitiveness.
Professor Yoonyoung Kim, who won the academic research award, has made outstanding research achievements in mechanics-based design and optimization. He have developed an automatic design methodology that optimally satisfies various design requirements that conflict with the mechanical design based on mechanical principles, while conventional method is based on trial and errors. Thanks to his innovative achievements, he is leading this field in the world and he became the co-chairman of Asia Society for Optimal Design and the vice-chairman of the World Optimal Design Society.
The education award ceremony was held on November 13 (Mon) at 3 pm, and the academic research award ceremony was held at the Seoul National University Center for Teaching and Learning at 3 pm on November 20 (Mon).
