SNU NeLabNeLab team wins the 1st Prize in 19th KIRC

On 22nd, SNU College of Engineering (Dean Cha Kook-Heon) has announced that Ryu Gil-Hyun of Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Shim Young-Woo of Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering won the 1st prize in the 19th KIRC (Korea Intelligent Robot Contest).
NeLabNeLab team won the 1st prize by exhibiting ‘TT-bot’, a self-driving object collecting robot based on deep-learning in the intelligent robot sector. ‘TT-bot’ is a robot that selectively collects targets by compensating the shortcomings of existing robotic vacuum cleaner.
In their award acceptance speech, they said, “We were delighted to be able to interact with other robotic engineers through KIRC, and now we are honored to receive the first prize,” and that “We will take this as an encouragement to work harder, and will try our best to achieve greater achievement in robotics.”
KIRC is an intelligent robot competition hosted by Korea Institute of Robot and Convergence, and sponsored by POSCO, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Korea Sanhak Foundation, UL Korea. It was held for the 19th time this year, and the first prize winner will receive a Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy Minister Award and a prize money of 10 million won.
