Seoul National University College of Engineering (Dean, Kookheon Char) announced on 23th that Professor Sungjune Kim and Professor Jung-Ik Ha of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering were selected as IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Fellow.
 
Professor Sungjune kim is a specialist in Neural Prostheses, an electrical implant technology such as Cochlear implant, artificial retinas and deep brain stimulation for the hearing and visually impaired and Parkinson's patients. He was selected as a IEEE Fellow for his contribution to the Design of Microfabricated Neuroprosthetic Devices.
 
Professor Kim obtained his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Seoul National University and a master's and doctoral degree from Cornell University in the USA. He worked as a researcher at the AT & T Bell Labs in the US and has been working as a professor at Seoul National University since 1989. He has served as the Director of the Center for NanoBio-electronics & Systems Laboratory and Inter-University Semiconductor Research Center.
 
Professor Jung-Ik Ha is a high-efficiency and integrated electric energy conversion expert. Based on his research, he leads industrial engineering fields such as electric vehicles, digital appliances, and renewable power generation. In particular, he was selected as an IEEE Fellow in recognition of his achievement in new academic development and industrialization in the field of sensorless AC electric device control.
 
Professor Ha received his bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Seoul National University, and worked for 10 years at companies. He worked as a researcher at Yaskawa Electric Co. JAPAN, senior engineer and principal engineer at Samsung Electronics, Chief Technology Officer(CTO) at LS Mecapion Co. Since 2010, he has been working as a Professor at Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Seoul National University. He received Samsung Electronics CEO Award, IEEE Paper Award and Seoul National University Shinyang Engineering Academic Award.

The IEEE Fellow, which is the highest grade of the membership, is selected within the top 0.1% of the members through seven criteria including excellent individual achievement, technical achievement, and professional field career experience.
