Professor Bonghee Jeon of Seoul National University, was elected as the 14th president of Korean Association of Architectural History

Seoul National University College of Engineering (Dean, Kookheon Char) announced on 24th that Professor Bonghee Jeon of Department of Architecture and Architectural Engineering was elected as the 14th president of Korean Association of Architectural History. The term of the president is two years from January 1, 2018.  
 
Professor Bonghee Joen, who was elected as the new president, said, “"I will do my best to link the academia and the field by expanding the activities of the society from traditional architecture to the modern architecture and urban environment.”
 
Professor Jeon has served as the Executive Director, Research Director, and Vice President of the Korean Association of Architectural History. He majored in Korean residence, traditional wooden architecture, and comparative architecture in East Asia. He also worked as a Harvard-Yenching Institute Visiting Scholar, Fulbright Visiting Scholar at U.C. Berkeley and as a visiting professor at Kyushu University in Japan.
 
He was awarded the Seoul National University Education Award in 2017 for his active educational works and research activities. He has been actively promoting Korean architecture culture through his English books and lectures. In particular, he has contributed to the successful operation of the International Conference on Architectural History in East Asia in 2002. Currently, he is a cultural committee member of the Cultural Heritage Administration and Seoul Metropolitan Government.
 
Founded in 1989, the Korean Association of Architectural History is the largest society in Korea in the field of architectural history. It is dedicated to academic research on architectural history and theories, and to preservation and succession of our architectural heritage. There are currently 1,600 individuals and business members.
