Seoul National University College of Engineering (Dean, Kookheon Char) announced on 20th that Professor Emeritus Jongdeok Lee, CEO Youngkyoon Jeong of Heerim Architects & Planners, and CEO Byungchul Lee of FNC Technology CO., LTd were selected as winners of the Development Achievement Award. The awarding ceremony will be held in 20th at Engineering House of Seoul National University. 
 
The Development Achievement Award is a prize given by the Seoul National University College of Engineering for the scholars who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the university. Since 1989, 48 people have been awarded this prize through 28 times so far.
 
Professor Jongdeok Lee, elected as a winner, graduated from Seoul National University in 1966 and became a professor of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Seoul National University in 1983. Since then, he trained younger scholars for 26 years until he retired. He also donated to the university for the development of university and training of younger talents.
 
He established the infrastructure for semiconductor research by establishing Inter-university Semiconductor Research Center. Furthermore, he played a major role in laying the foundations for Korea to become the world memory semiconductor leader and the No. 1 display market in the semiconductors sector.
 
The CEO Youngkyoon Jeong of Heerim Architects & Planners graduated from Department of Architecture & Architectural Engineering, Seoul National University in 1985 and received master’s degree at the same department in 1987. Since then, he accumulated various design experiences on architecture for 30 years. He also played major role in development of the company Heerim Architects & Planners, which boasts the world's best design technology in the field of 'Sports, Airport, Hospital, Residential, Smart City' as a global company. He became the CEO of the company in 2001, and supported SNU engineering students since then.
 
He also paid attention to the SNU engineering alumni and scholarship for young students. Therefore he continuously donated to SNU Engineering for its development.
 
Byungchul Lee, CEO of FNC Technology Co., Ltd. entered the Department of Nuclear Engineering in 1984 and received Ph.D. degree in 1996. Since then, he worked in KEPCO E&C. After he founded the company FNC Technology CO., LTd, he has contributed greatly to the localization of nuclear technology.
 
He has hired a number of excellent talents from Seoul National University. He also donated to the SNU Engineering for its development.
 
Dean Kookheon Char of SNU Engineering said, "The winners are not only helped college of engineering but also have contributed greatly to the nation's development and human society, and have contributed to our society through their own lives."
