17 Professors of Seoul National University College of Engineering were selected as ‘Next Generation Leaders’ by National Academy of Engineering of Korea (NAEK)

Seoul National University College of Engineering (Dean, Kookheon Char) announced on the 21st that 17 professors of Seoul National University College of Engineering were selected as "Future 100 Technology and the Next Generation Leader" by the National Academy of Engineering of Korea (NAEK).

NAEK announced 'Future 100 Technologies' every five years. This year, 100 technologies that could be commercialized in 2025 and have potential to contribute to the development of industry, and 238 next generation leaders were selected.
 
Future 100 technologies are divided into a growing society, a smart society, a sustainable society, a healthy society, and a safe social vision. They contain engineering field such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, biological engineering, materials engineering and etc.
 
In the sustainable society vision sector, Professor Myungil Roh of Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering who is studying the ship's eco-friendly operation technology through reduction of fuel consumption and NOx., and Professor Jai-Ick Yoh of Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering who is studying the commercialization of the non-painful portable insulin pen were selected.
 
In the growing society vision sector, Professor Seoungyong Hahn of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering who is studying design and system analysis of high-energy density superconducting power devices, Professor Kisuk Kang of Department of Materials Science and Engineering who is studying post lithium ion battery, Professor Thomas Kang of Department of Architecture and Architectural Engineering who is studying post-tension control system, Professor Taewoo Lee of Department of Materials Science and Engineering who is studying perovskite light emitting diode, Professor Jangwoo Kim of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering who is studying computer system, Professor Yongtaek Hong of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering who is studying transparent flexible display, Professor Seungju Yoo of Department of Computer Science and Engineering who is studying next generation AI semiconductor and Professor Jongho Lee of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering who is studying next generation sensor AI semiconductor were selected.

For smart society vision sector, Professor Hyunjin Kim of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering who is studying the intelligent decision-making technology for UAV, Professor Jangwook Choi of Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering who is studying lithium secondary battery, Professor Byunghyo Shim of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering who is studying communication technologies using IoT and Professor Myoungsouk Yeo of Department of Architecture and Architectural Engineering who is studying smarthome technologies were selected.
 
For safe society vision sector, Professor Junho Song of Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering who is studying control system of urban infrastructure under disaster circumstances and Professor Hyungbo Shim of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering who is studying security system of the control system (drones, IoT, connected cars) were selected.
 
Kookheon Char, Dean of College of Engineering, said “It is honor to the college of engineering that 17 professors have been selected as next generation leaders. We will continuously support our researchers and sincerely hope for them to contribute to the future development of industry.”
