SNU College of Engineering (Dean Cha Kook-Heon) on 4^th announces that 19 SNU College of Engineering professors were elected as 2018’s new members of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea (NAEK).
 
Through 10 months of extensive screening process over multiple criteria, NAEK has finally revealed the ‘2018 New Member’ list composed of 45 senior members and 78 (general) members. On the list were 19 SNU professors.
 
Senior members include: Professors Kim Yong-Kweon, Lee Byoungho, and Hong Seongsoo of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering; Professor Shin Jong-Gae of the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering; Professor Park Hong-Gun of the Department of Architecture and Architectural Engineering; Professor Jung Choong-Ki of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering; Professor Kim Jae-Jeong of the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering; and Professor Lee Jeong-Dong of the Technology Management, Economics and Policy Program..
 
General members include: Professors Bahk Saewoong, Seo Seung-Woo, and Lee Changhee of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering; Professor Min Kyoungdoug of the Departmental of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering; Professor Song Junho of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering; Professor Jeon BongHee of the Department of Architecture and Architectural Engineering; Professor Yoon Jeyong of the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering; Professors Jeon Seokwon and Heo Eunyeong of the Department of Energy Systems Engineering; Joo Young-Chang of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering; and finally Professor Joo Han-Gyu of the Department of Nuclear Engineering.
 
NAEK, as the most authoritative national organ in the field of engineering, aims to enhance nation’s industrial competitiveness, nurture people of talent, etc. NAEK members consist of top experts from universities, research institutes, and corporations that have made great contributions to national development through their outstanding research outcomes and innovative technological development.
 
SNU College of Engineering Dean Cha Kook-Heon states, “It is an honor that 19 professors of SNU College of Engineering have been nominated as the new members of Korea’s foremost authority of engineering NAEK.” He adds, “SNU College of Engineering will take the lead to put forth sound science-related policy proposals and strive to expand engineering culture in preparation for the 4^th Industrial Revolution.”
