The Former Dean of SNU College of Engineering Lee Geun-Woo emphasized that, “We are failing to rear creative and risk-taking talents who will lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Education system in Korea needs to revolutionized to rear talents who are creative, risk-taking, and cooperative.”
During the morning, the director of Happy City Project Management Office Yoon Eun-Sang delivered his keynote address on “Mega-Project and Job Creation” and Section Chief of the Financial Services Commission (FSC) An Chang-Kook lectured on the “Arrival of Fourth Revolution and the Role of Finance.” SNU Professor Yu Ki Yun (Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering) closed the morning session with a special speech titled “Where is Your Position in the New World? Future Society Report of 2050.”
During the afternoon, six sessions of topic-based conferences were alternatively led by 18 Industry-University-Institute Cooperation experts, including the Advisor of Doosan Heavy Industry and Construction Joo Sung-Cheol.
Later, Professor Park Chang-Woo, who is in charge of the EPM course, chaperoned the main debate, divided in six minor sessions, where participants took part in heated discussions. Professor Park explains, “EPM Congress is not a once-off event. Working group meeting of each topic will continue till the next congress that is scheduled in the coming September to come up with more realistic and specific solutions to the problems.” He adds, “Our plan is to host bi-annual congresses for the next three years to launch a feasible project in 2020 in aims to construct a stable platform which can foster the Fourth Industrial Innovation in 2030.”
Meanwhile, an idea competition between SNU graduate students was conducted as a special event. 11 teams consisting of 24 graduate students on master’s and doctor’s course submitted their projects on the “Fourth Industrial Revolution and SNU’s Future Campus in 2030.” After listening to students’ presentations, participants of the congress voted through the evaluation system and this voting was reflected in the overall scores.
All submissions were reviewed and processed through a blind test by all Certified Engineering Project Managers (EPM) who have passed the College of Engineering’s EPM course to select a final award winning project. This one outstanding idea will be revised by CEPM and experts to be implemented to the real world.
