SNU College of Engineering (Dean Cha Kook-Heon) announces on 27th that it hosted the first Graduate School of Engineering Practice Graduation Ceremony at the Xi Jinping Hall of the Global Education Center for Engineers on 26th. This is the first case in Korea for an engineering technical college to produce graduates.

SNU Graduate School of Engineering Practice has been established in March 2016 in aims to rear individuals that possess broad engineering capabilities and are strong at onsite engineering. The school prepares young engineers with academic and technical skills that are needed to resolve issues that occur at industrial sites.

40 out of the 45 students who admitted to the school in 2016 have received their diploma on this day. They have completed two years of basic and specialized education and real life industry projects to earn their master’s degrees.

Every graduate has been evaluated by the steering committee of the Department of Applied Engineering. Out of the 40 diploma recipients, the school has recognized one as top alumnus, two as distinguished alumni, and six for their distinguished research reports.

The students have participated in activities like Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University’s summer boot camp, Kyungpook-Moonkyung SNUH (Seoul National University Hospital) Human Resources Development Center’s winter boot camp to learn about knowledge needed in managing organization – for instance, global communications and leadership. In December 2017, the school has hosted the “2017 International Conference on Engineering Innovation” that involved 15 poster presentations and 14 session presentations.

Dean Cha in his congratulatory address states, “I am certain that the graduates returning to their fields will be able to lead nation’s industrial development as onsite engineering talents. The Graduate School of Engineering Practice, as a specialized school, will strive to meet up with the changing environment and social requirements.”
