SNU College of Engineering (Dean Cha Kook-Heon) announces that Professor Kim Sung Jae (Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering) and Professor Jang Ho Won (Department of Materials Science and Engineering) have been selected as two of the 26 members of the Young Korean Academy of Science and Technology (Y-KAST, 26 Young Scientists of Korea).
Professor Kim is known over the world for naming the “Ion Concentration Polarization(ICP)” phenomenon and as a pioneer in the field of nano-electro-hydro-dynamics. The portable purification system that is currently on research is anticipated as a key to solving water shortage.
Professor Jang paves a new research field that centers on ceramics while majority of researchers focus on flexible substrates and two-dimensional materials. He is known for his studies on chemical sensor, energy conversion of photoelectrode, nanostructured oxide thin films for nanoelectronics, and two-dimensional materials.
Meanwhile, Y-KAST is Korea’s main science and technology organization under the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (President Lee Myung-Chul) that supports young scientists under the age of 45 to pursue their remarkable initiatives and increase future possibilities.
