SNU College of Engineering (Dean Kookheon Char) announced on the 14th that "ENNOvation TANK Season II," an investment-intensive development program, will help start-ups attract real investment and grow on a scale-up basis, starting from the 12th.
‘ENNOvation TANK (ENNO TANK)’ is an engineering technology-based startup support program hosted by SNU College of Engineering and sponsored by Hyundai Motor Co. to create jobs for the youth and revitalize the technology ecosystem. It has attracted investments worth the scale of 3 billion won through its last 'ENNO TANK Season I' and has actually helped start-ups secure successful market stability and growth.
The recruitment target for "ENNO TANK Season II" is engineering technology-based startups, where one can be a candidate for application the company/social enterprise is within three years since the start of the business or if one is planning for a start-up (with the ability to begin the business within the program period). The sectors for recruitment include ▲Engineering Technology (Electrical Information, Computers, Mechanical Aerospace Engineering, Materials, Energy, Biology, etc.) ▲Mobility (Environment/Electronics, Self-driving, Connected, Sharing), ▲Big Data, AI, IoT, Robots, Healthcare, Lifestyle, Smart City, etc.
ENNO TANK awards a total of 75 million won as a commercialization support grant to five pitching teams and five booth teams selected through document evaluation and presentation evaluation, amongst which five pitching teams will be supported with investment-intensive accelerating. Further, opportunities to attract investment, form business links and networking will be provided through pitch announcements and booth operations at the Demo Day where the nation's leading venture capital will participate, while prize money (worth 50 million won in total) will be awarded to the most outstanding demo day team.
Professor Seung-Yeop Kwak of SNU Department of Materials Science and Engineering, who is in charge of the ENNO TANK operation, claimed that “startups that were having difficulties in commercializing were able to attract real investment and set the stage for growth through "ENNO TANK Season I.” He hopes that “many startups will apply for the program to take off with the new investment-intensive "ENNO TANK Season II.”
