Seoul National University's College of Engineering (Dean Kookheon Char) announced on August 6 that HodooAI, the start-up company founded by Professor Jung Woo Lee of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has published a research paper on distributed machine learning (Chebyshev Polynomial Codes: Task Entanglement-based Coding for Distributed Matrix Multiplication) at 'ICML (international conference on machine learning) 2021', the world's most prestigious international conference in the field of AI theory.
 
'ICML 2021' was held (online) from July 18 to July 24, 2021, and is an international conference with over 70,000 participants every year, being the most influential AI association with a research paper selection rate of 20% and impact factor of 6.99.
 
Professor Jung Woo Lee, who is considered one of Korea's leading experts in personal information protection machine learning technology, established HodooAI, an AI platform company for AI service companies in 2017 as a laboratory start-up with five of his students and this paper, published this year, is the only Korean startup paper at ICML 2021, and it has great significance in that HodooAI's cutting-edge technology was objectively recognized.
 
This paper, presented by Professor Jung Woo Lee, is a patented technology that can be used as a core technology in future cloud-based machine learning platforms, and researchers Sangwoo Hong, Hee-chul Yang, Youngseok Yoon, and Taehyun Cho participated as co-authors. This technology can be directly combined with security and privacy techniques, and will be used as a core technology in the future for the AI platform of HodooAI.
 
In addition, this technology was evaluated by the ICML judges as a core technology that can raise the imperfect personal information protection performance of combined learning to a 100%, and is expected to play a major role in raising the level of combined learning-related technologies in Korea to the world level in the future.
