Renewal Agreement Signed for the Redevelopment of the Academic Information Center at the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Chemical and Biological Engineering.

On June 26th, Seoul National University's College of Engineering and the Haedong Science and Culture Foundation signed an agreement to renew the Haedong Academic Information Center, aiming to enhance facilities and spaces for students in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering to focus on their studies and research.

For the renewal of the Haedong Academic Information Center for both departments, the Haedong Science and Culture Foundation will contribute a total of 200 million won per department, totaling 400 million won from development funds.

The Haedong Academic Information Center for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering was established in 1996 on the 3rd floor of Building 301, supported by the late Chairman Kim Jung-sik (a graduate of the Department of Electronic Engineering). It consists of reading rooms, archives, seminar rooms, and a library, housing current general interest books, academic monographs, textbooks, reference materials, undergraduate theses, and academic journals.

The Haedong Academic Information Center for the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering was inaugurated in 2002 on the 2nd floor of Building 302, supported by the late Chairman Kim Jung-sik and Director Kim Young-jae (a graduate of the Department of Industrial Chemistry and chairman of the Haedong Science and Culture Foundation). It expanded its reading rooms in 2006 and includes reading rooms, archives, an AI lab (sponsored by Chairman Lee Boo-seop of Dongjin Semichem in 2022), housing current general interest books, core textbooks, reference materials, and journal DVDs.
