Seoul National University College of Engineering announced that Professor Sung-Hoon Ahn from the Department of Mechanical Engineering assumed office as the 30th President of the Korean Society for Precision Engineering (KSPE) on January 1.

Professor Ahn is a renowned expert who has contributed significantly to the advancement of research and industry in the field of precision engineering. He is expected to lead the society’s operations and drive innovation in the field.

Established in 1984, the Korean Society for Precision Engineering plays a pivotal role in the field of engineering in Korea. Approximately 3,000 members participate annually in its Spring and Fall Academic Conferences, as well as the international academic conference PRESM (Precision Engineering and Sustainable Manufacturing). The society currently publishes four English journals and one Korean journal, disseminating academic research achievements on a global scale.

Notably, the KSPE was recognized for its outstanding management of academic journals and was awarded the Minister of Science and ICT Award on December 18 last year, reaffirming its prominence.

In his inaugural address, President Ahn stated, "Precision engineering is a core field that bridges industry and academia, pursuing both technological innovation and sustainability. I will strengthen the society’s global network and research achievements to contribute to academia and industry both domestically and internationally."
