Seoul National University's Graduate School of Engineering Practice (President Kookheon Char, Dean of the College of Engineering) announced on June 11 that it held its 7th "EPM Congress" in collaboration with the Engineering Project Management (EPM) course of the College of Engineering.

The event was held in the form of a special lecture inviting Egyptian Ambassador to South Korea Hazem Mostafa Ibrahim Fahmy under the main theme of "Project; Distance, Speed and Time."

The event, which was held simultaneously online in real-time to cope with COVID-19, was successfully held with major experts such as AEH Ju-yeon Kang, HKA Korean Representative An-ho Ko, David Hardinan Partner and Allen & Gledhill Dao Qairim Partner.

Meanwhile, the non-face-to-face event can be viewed online for three months.

The EPM Congress was first launched in February 2018 to create engineering jobs and new business opportunities, and has since been held twice a year. The goal is to build a fourth industrial revolution innovative growth platform that can design feasible projects and carry out continuous performance-generating projects by 2030.

"We have faced the unprecedented COVID-19 situation for a long time, but we look forward to playing the role of EPM Congress as a platform to gather wisdom to overcome this crisis and design a better future," said JunBoum Park of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, an EPM professor.

The event was attended by SNU members, SNU students who were interested and industry-academic experts and held a round table meeting under the theme of "Season 1-EPM Congress; 2018 to 2020, Season 2-EPM Congress; 2021 to 2030", where reflected on the present and discussed future directions. It was followed by an official event, starting with the opening speech by ProfessorJunBoum Park.

For the special event, the publication ceremony of the Internet newspaper "PM Times," which was promoted as a project to commemorate the 10th anniversary of EPM, was held at the EPM alumni meeting with Byung-joon Kang (CEO of NFN), its publisher, at the center.

The morning event was centered on a keynote lecture by the major subject and discussion by group with the Sarfaraz Student Research Institute of Applied Engineering at the Graduate School of Engineering at its center, and led to special lectures by Egyptian Ambassador Hazem Fahmy on 'Text, Civilization and Artificial Intelligence' and AEH Ju-yeon Kang's 'Deciphering Egyptian Hieroglyphs'.

The afternoon event was followed by the '3rd Smart PMC Conference', chaired by An-ho Go, the Korean representative of HKA, and under the theme of "Advice for Delay, Loss and Recovery of Construction Projects" by British HKA and Singapore Allen & Gledhill experts. The "Smart Farm Conference," chaired by College of Engineering researcher Jung-hyun Park, a senior researcher, was held with a keynote lecture by Director Seung-su Han of N.THING of and panel discussion by experts including Eun-sang Yoon, Head of the project management team in the Administrative City Construction.

"We have made thorough precautionary preparations in the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, and we hope that the 8th EPM Congress that is to be held on December 10 this year will be held face-to-face as before Corona," said Seoul National University's EPM chief professor Chang-woo Park, who organized this event. “We will strive to become a platform for mutual growth and performance creation by gathering wisdom as a platform for overcoming difficult environments and creating sustainable values,” he further added.
